cmr2 Tip Of The Day

TIP OF THE DAY #1

Some cars make your game go "exit"
To overcome this problem make a change in your option section inside your game as follow,
go to options/graphics/advanced graphics....set your shadow map off.

TIP OF THE DAY #2
Avoid replacing your newly downloaded cars for the following abbreviations; min, esc, sie, 205, str and 6r4. These cars have a different gearbox ratio and overall driving style (old rally cars versus new rally cars).
So when you replace for example a Subaru Impreza with above mentioned abbreviations your Subaru Impreza sounds and reacts weird. Its better to change the abbreviations completely to for example the mit. abbreviations, see TIP OF THE DAY #3 on how to do that.
(noted if you download a oldschool car like a Mini Cooper etc than there is no problem).

TIP OF THE DAY #3

Rename car abbreviations as follow

# For example you have downloaded a new car, a Porsche 911 with the following abbreviations,
205.cin
205a1.bfl
205a1N.c3d

You can now replace the original 205 car with this one but then the Porsche 911drives
like a 205.
To solve this problem copy 205a1N.c3d twice so it looks like this;

205.cin
205a1.bfl
205a1N.c3d
copy of 205a1N.c3d
copy of (2) 205a1N.c3d

Now change it for example to;
sea .cin
seaa1.bfl
seaa1N.c3d
seaa1L.c3d
seaa1S.c3d

Now you can race your Porsche 911 like a Seat Cordoba which is a lot better.

# All the cars you download you can rename like this but watch out, the following cars (205, esc, min, str) don't have the following abbreviations; ...a1L.c3d and ...a1S.c3d. For these cars you only need ....cin, ...a1.bfl, ...a1N.c3d to get them to work, for all the others cars you have to add ...a1L.c3d and ...a1S.c3d to get them to work.

# Knowing this you can now also change the original old school cars (205, esc, min, str) to drive like a Subaru or Mitsubishi etc.

# By the way all off the above is for your own risk so always save your original car files so when there is a problem (it is afterall not a exact science) you can always put the originals files back. So fiddle around and have fun.

TIP OF THE DAY #4

A usefull link to learn how to deal with the tools and how to develop a new texture for your car tutorial-site for cartextures

TIP OF THE DAY #5

When you have downloaded or modified a lot of cars:

If you installed the game you can find a directory which looks like "colin mcrae rally 2/Game/Cars".
In this "Cars" map you can find your cars, but you can't add cars, only modify or replace them.
When you have downloaded or modified a lot of cars you want to use them all, so i made several new maps in the "Game" directory named:

Cars (this is the original map, if you are  not using it rename it to Cars 1)
Cars 2
Cars 3
Cars 4
etc....

Now you can put your downloaded or modified cars in these new directories.

To access these cars you only have to make a small adjustment BEFORE you start your game, if you want to play the game with cars from Cars 3 you rename the original Cars map into Cars 1 and rename your Cars 3 into Cars, now you have access to your new cars.
